Amineko Cat

I just finished crocheting this Amineko cat today.  Such a little cutie – it only stands 18cm tall.  I’ve seen a lot of these on Pinterest and Ravelry and have wanted to make one for quite a while.  This is a free pattern available through Ravelry HERE.

I used a small 2mm hook to make this and you use single crochet working in the round.  They are very small rounds and so you have to crochet very tightly too.  I enjoyed making this little cat and it’s a nice small project you can take with you to appointments or kids sports lessons.

Grade 6 Softie Toy Creations 2016

Last week I finished teaching my Softie Toy Making classes with the Grade 6 kids at school.  I have been teaching this class once a week for the whole term during the Grade 6′s art class.  I love teaching these classes – and this is the 6th year I have been teaching them.  It’s always lots of fun and I love seeing the creations that the kids come up with.  The kids get to draw out ideas of what they would like to create, make them into pattern pieces, select and cut out their fabrics, sew them together on the sewing machines, stuff them and hand sew gaps closed as well as embroider any details.  This year we ended up with 2 foxes, three people (a man, cowboy and Angus from ACDC), a super dog, an elephant, cat, ballet bunny, rocket ship, zebra, deer and a Kung Fu Panda.   They all did a wonderful job!  Well done everyone! (Sorry – there is one photo missing of a cool looking man with a skull & crossbone shirt!).
